Hôtel KVL.
Our Neighborhood

HôteL KVL sits right on the banks of the Tonle Sap, literally the “Fresh River”, which links the great lake in the centre of Cambodia to the majestic Mekong.

This stretch of riverside has been at the heart of Phnom Penh since the city’s birth, when, as legend has it, “Lady Penh” found a tree containing statues of Buddha and Vishnu floating in the river. Wat Phnom, the picturesque hilltop pagoda just a short walk north of the hotel, was constructed to mark this good omen. The Royal Palaces, including the stunning Silver Pagoda; and Wat Ounalom, the country’s most significant living Buddhist site, can be found just a few hundred metres south of Hôtel KVL.

Today, this neighbourhood is where ancient meets modern, where slices of traditional Khmer life can still be found in the heart of a dynamic and rapidly-growing cosmopolitan Asian capital.

Street-sellers and bustling local markets sit next to experimental cocktail bars and hidden speakeasies. Take your pick between traditional Khmer street food - perhaps fragrant nombanjok noodle soup, or hot and crispy Nom Ka Chai fried in front of you - or contemporary fine dining, prepared by the country’s most innovative chefs. Hôtel KVL is home to world-class international cuisine, including El Tapas, our buzzing Spanish restaurant.

Watch the sun go down over the river while enjoying a rooftop cocktail, and watch the riverside come alive, as families picnic in the Royal Palace Park and Phnom Penh residents old and young exercise and unwind in the cool evening breeze.

The night is yours to explore - stay in the neighbourhood and visit the fashionable local bars, or hop in a taxi or tuk tuk and discover the hidden charms and excitement that Phnom Penh city has to offer.
